The chic mountain resort of Chamonix offers plenty of opportunities for sightseeing including a cable car up the Aiguille du Midi for amazing views of Mont Blanc. For a more leisurely journey the famous rack and pinion railway transports passengers to the Montenvers site, nearly 2,000 metres above sea level, where an imposing panorama of the Mer de Glace glacier provides the most beautiful photo opportunity.
Day 4 – Lavaux Vineyards, Vevey & Montreux
This morning we head to the Lavaux Vineyards, where we will enjoy wine tasting at the outstanding Lauvaux Vinorama. Next we travel to Vevey, one of the “Pearls of the Swiss Riviera”. Its lakeside location with breathtaking views of the Alpine panorama, its extraordinarily mild climate, the vineyards and proud paddlewheel steamers on the lake, characterise this town by Lake Geneva. After some free time we embark on a scenic paddle steam cruise on-board the Belle Epoque from Vevey to the elegant town of Montreux before returning to the hotel by coach.
Day 5 – Swiss Chocolate Train
Today we enjoy an epic cheese and chocolate journey! Our full day excursion on the magnificent Chocolate Train starts from Montreux where we embark on a first-class journey through the scenic countryside to the village of Gruyères. Here we discover how cheese is made at the La Maison du Gruyère cheese dairy, after which we will have time to spend in the village before we travel by bus to Broc, home of the Cailler-Nestlè chocolate factory. We will find out all about the chocolates made here, with tastings of course! After enjoying the chocolates, we board our train for the return journey to Montreux.
